While They Snooze

Of all the DIY projects you've done, which was your favorite?

My Tire Table I did for Creating with the Stars this year is my favorite DIY project yet. I started off very unsure of how I was going to make this tire into something I'd be proud to claim as my project. In the end, it turned out to be something I was not only proud to compete with, but something I really love having in my living room. We use it every day, most of the project was free, and it looks awesome.

What's your advice for moms who want to decorate their home on a budget?

Goodwill, Craig's List, and garage sales! I wish I had known this in college, my apartment would have been much cooler! You can absolutely find fantastic items for your home 2nd-hand. A lot of times, buying 2nd-hand means a little work, but more often than not it also means better quality. And it certainly gives you a more unique look than buying from a big box store. Buy used, trade, dumpster dive!

Where do you find inspiration for keeping your home stylish?

I'm not going to lie, I'm a Pinterest lover. I have also refused to let my husband cancel our cable because I need me some HGTV. (Candice Olson and Sarah Richardson are my favs!) I also get tons of inspiration from other DIY, craft, and design blogs. Let's face it, while I love the HGTV designers, I certainly don't have their budgets. This is when the DIY comes into play.
