4 month old reluctant to breastfeed due to thrush.

My daughter has recently been diagnosed with thrush. It is at a rather advanced stage. We tried a week of Nystatin....didn't work. Then, five days of Gentian violet....helped slighty, but now we are back on Nystatin for another week as the ped says we can't go more than five days with the Gentian violet. I don't have it, but the doc still told me to use cream. My daughter cries like crazy when she knows I'm trying to feed her, so it must be painful for her :( I have to put her nearly to sleep before she'll eat. And that means swaddling and then dancing. Has anyone else experienced this?? Any advice?? I just want for us both to be happy and not struggling. :(
