Symptoms: coughing (three weeks), spit up and hoarseness in voice (the past week).

Coughing correlates with starting on solid foods

went to dr. and he said that it could be acid reflux. wondering if anyother moms have experienced this and how best to deal with it naturally... feed less, more often, meds...?

My son (2 months old) has reflux. He has been spitting/projectile vomiting since he was born. After ruling out pyloric stenosis (b/c of the projectile vomiting) we put him on zantac. I also switched to his formula to Enfamil AR (added rice) it's a thicker formula which helps keep the food down longer, and I purchased Dr. Browns bottles. After each feeding I hold him upright for about an hour (you can do 30 mins for a breastfed baby) I also try not to move him around to much afterwards. I tried feeding him less more often but he was not happy about, but if you're able to do less more often it should help. It seems to me that the Enfamil AR makes his stool a bit firmer than usual so I also give him little tummies gas drops to help. He use to cry all the time b/c of the spit up, but after finding the right routine he is much better now. He still spits up sometimes anywhere from 1/2oz to an 1oz. If I see that he spit up a lot and starts to become very fussy near his next feeding time I usually feed him a little earlier since he lost an oz or so last time. Hope this help I know it can be frustrating. Some parents add rice cereal to the bottles 1tsp=2oz, but it's not recommended before 4-6 months of age b/c of the difficulty to digest and possible allergies. Good luck
