Any suggestions on how to deal with bottle rejection?

My 5month old has taken a bottle of expressed breastmilk perfectly since he was a little over a month old. I am a SAHM, so the only time he gets a bottle is when I am gone. Last week, my mother-in-law was keeping him while I went to an appointment and I came back and she said he was refusing the bottle. I have tried a few different bottles and even a trainer cup, but he just seems to be chewing on them. Any tips for how to overcome this? I love breastfeeding, but loved having the backup of a bottle to free me up for a few hours here and there.

He may have not been hungry enough and chose to wait for you. Some babies will hold out and only drink what they NEED to drink.

sounds odd but have u let him try just sipping it from a normal cup with no lid? its messy i know but sometimes it works better than giving them different things? also could he just have been teething?
