i don't know if this is in any relation to my breastfeeding or my breast being engorged but i've been feeling some sharp, stabbing pain in both my breast lately. it's very quick but happens repeatedly and more so through the night. i don't know if this is normal or something i should go get checked out.

Dacia, it all depends on how old your little one is. If he/she is still small there really is no need to worry. Your breast simply become too full at night, which causes the pain, but as they get use to the demand it will settle. It might happen again during times when the demand changes. Usually around 10 days, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 9 months.

I have the same thing, when I get engorged at night. The Lactation specialist told me it's because the glands inside my breasts are too full and stretching. You need to pump out until your breast become a little soft. Also it could be clogged ducts deep inside the breast, get a lactation nurse to look at you and feel around. Once I found the clogged duct and got the baby to suck it out, I was fine.

It sucks :/ I understand your pain on engorgement.

To me it sounds like let-down. I experience that in both breasts when my daughter nurses, and when she was younger, I would experience it numerous times throughout the day. (I always had to make sure I wore nursing pads. Lol)
