Anyone have info/advice on the "mini pill"??

[deleted account] ( 3 moms have responded )

I just started taking this contraceptive and would like to hear from other moms whom are or have taken this. Im worried since its not as effective as the other options but one of the few for a breastfeeding mother.

i used it and i was still able to breastfeed perfectly fine, they say once the bub is around 6 months old, your supply should be well established so it should be ok to switch to the normal pill

I went on the Ortho Evra patch when my son was 7 months old, but it decreased my supply terribly, so I switched to the mini-pill. My supply is back to normal and the mini-pill seems to be working fine (I've been using it for 4 months now). One thing to note however, is that it doesn't "force" a period. I haven't menstruated yet (except the one month I was on the patch), but I didn't naturally get my period back until my older son was 14 months, so I guess it will be the same with this baby too. I hope you're able to find a contraceptive that works well for you.

I was on the mini pill from when my son was 4weeks old till 15months old. I'm not on it now as we are currently trying for another baby. I did not have any problems whatsoever using it. I havent heard that its not as effective as the other options, but you could look into the mirena iud
