Do you "wear" your baby while breastfeeding? what kind of carrier do you use?
I have a babyhawk mei tei carrier but have never nursed in it yet...tips appreciated :)

I nursed in my Ergo with 7 month old while walking through town just last week- looked a little funny because she was sitting high and my boobs sag so I had to lift them a little.

I've also nursed in our Cat's Meow mei tei.

I searched "nurse in X" (insert carrier) on YouTube to find videos about various positions and how to adjust them.

I honestly love my mei tei..especially when i need both hands while running after my toddler! if only i can perfect the upright position it will be all good! thanks ladies for the advice...i have tried googling a diagram on how to do this but have no luck...guess i will just see what works!

I nurse in a mei tai all the time. It involves getting the waist strap as low as possible and then propping my boob with a cloth.

I also nurse in a sling as well, with her on my hip.

Nicole do you have trouble keeping your shirts from being stretched out at the topic because you pull down? That is what I am afraid of.

I use the moby and Phoebe nurses in it all of the time. As for the shirt thing, I find it easiest to wear a shirt that I can get the breast out of the top. so I don't have to maneuver multiple layers. It is so nice to be able to walk an nurse- the moby has saved me countless hours of sleep. I have seen Maitai's in action- they are also nursing friendly.

Sylvia if you ever have another baby that doesn't like to be held in the side position in the carrier try the ergo baby carrier it lets the baby nurse while upright.

I used an unpadded ring sling and a Baby Trekker, and managed to nurse a few times in each, but I never got good at it (despite babywearing for 2.5 years -- my kiddo is a bit of a pipsqueak, was 20 lb at age 2). But she always HATED being held or carried sideways -- she always wanted to be upright -- so I could never use any of the cradle-style carries, which I think made it trickier. I think it depends a lot on individual factors, like whether or not you have the world's wiggliest child...

I nurse them in my mei tei, ergo, cuddly wrap and ring sling.... you just have to practice and keep trying until you find the right position for you and your LO. It may take a while but eventually you should be able to find what is most comfortable for the both of you

I've heard of tons of nursing friendly carriers. I couldn't find a good fit or anything in my price range while Ivy was younger (I'm very short and thin so finding something snug enough was tough). Now I have a size 1 hotsling and she nurses in the hip carry position now that she's a toddler. Try nursing in the mirror a few times with it while baby is in a good mood. Practice makes perfect and it'll soon become second nature =)

I wear my daughter while breastfeeding in our Ergo baby carrier. My tip would be to learn how to loosen the carrier to allow for a bit more room while breastfeeding. I would also suggest that you wear a tank top under your shirt while doing this if you pull your shirt up because it can be hard to get your shirt back in position with the carrier on.
