I always heard to yelp no, and that would stop them from biteing. That was not true with my daughter. She would look up at me and laugh. I think she thought it was funny the reaction she got from me. What I would do is say very firmly "NO" and then I would take it away from her, put her in her crib (for a little time out) for about 10 minutes or so, then I would do it again. It didn't take her long to realize that biteing meant no food. She still bites/nibbles from time to time. (I think she's seeing if the rules have changed) I do the same thing, and she doesn't like her milk being taken away. She's 8 months also, but she got her first 2 teeth at 3 1/2 months, and her top 2 at 6 1/2 months. The top 2 are the ones that hurt the worse. Especially if she doesn't loosen the suction and turns to look at something, and her top teeth scrape the entire way out. Ouch! Lol. She doesn't do that much though. Babies can learn very quickly not to bite. She seems to know not to bite, but she doesn't understand not to play with cords. Lol.

My son started biteing around then also.. and once he got teeth UGH...I joined a breast feeding group when he was in his 8th month or there abouts... at first I thought that it was just somthing i had to suck up and deal with... they taught me at the clinic to flick his cheek and say NO in a very strong voice. he cried the first few times but he got the point... he pretty much stopped doing it. He still will now and then but its cuz he thinks it is funny to hear me yelp (he is 16 months) and he still gets the cheek flick and then its a while before he does it again. I hope that helps.
