Its also quite normal to get breast pain when your milk is being produced/coming back in after your child has drained your breast of milk.

Glad you are feeling better, I am as well; the mass has gone and I am just abit sore in that area now... Good luck with the nursing and I hope you don't have anymore problems! :)

i dont have any bumps or lumps as of now but i did have a small one when i was having the pain. it has now gone away since i got a new bra and she is now nursing every 3.5-4 hours even at night for some reason. but that is ok with me i dont mind waking at night to feed her.

I just happened to have to go to the Dr. today as I have a very sore, large mass on the bottom side of my right breast. He said that he wasn't sure if it was the beginning of mastitis because I don't have any "flu like" symptoms that commonly accompany that problem. He gave me a prescription for cephalexin which I have decided to take in case it is mastitis - I don't want it to get worse or abcess. I am starting to wonder if it is a blocked duct tho as my 3 month old has been sleeping thru the night recently and I also got a milk blister this week. The blister went away 3 days before I noticed the soreness and I thought it was just engorgement until I felt the huge mass that didn't go down with nursing. Do you also have any lumps or bumps? Anyone else have this problem too - possible mastitis without any fever/chills?

Oh wow. I think that would have made me nervous if he slept so long without feeding. In the beginning the drs told me to wake up the baby every 2 to 3 hours and he still pretty much wakes up to feed the same now at 3 months. But going back to work this week, I wish he would sleep a little longer. Lucky you, lol.

Yea I agree it might be the milk ducts thing. When I go out with my son (who's 3 months this week) and he usually sleeps throuh train rides and me walking and the time passes when he usually nurses when I get home I feel like that. I wish my son slept through the night. I feel like I still nurse every 2 hours. Hey, how old is your daughter by the way?

i think most of the pain that i was having was cause the bras that i had were not very supportive. i used sports bras most of the time. once i got some nice nursing bras with the right support the pain has subsided for the most part. i still get a bit of pain when i am full and laying down on my right side. which is only in the early morning cause my daughter dont wake at night to eat.

i also forgot to mention that i notice myself getting blocked ducts if i am wearing a bra that isn't a nursing bra. actually, there is only one bra that i can wear, otherwise i am getting tons of blocked ducts!

you probably have clogged ducts.. take a hot shower and express in the shower.. massage around where it hurts also.. sometimes it just needs a little work.. also if you nipples are hurting you may have thrush.. you may need to get some ointment from the doc or go to a natural food store and get asidolphilis.. also try nursing on that side a bit more till it passes..

i was thinking it was a duct thing cause it also seems like so dont get enough to eat from that side and i have to do my left 2times sometimes in one feeding. also i got some new bras cause i did not have any nursing ones and was wearing sports ones and in just a few min of wearing one i felt a bit better. still sore to the touch tho.

i get that achy sore muscle pain from time to time myself..for me it means that my son skipped out on a couple of nursing sessions. what i do is nurse on the achy side the very next time he wants to nurse. if it still hurts at the next session, I offer the achy side again first. I don't really consider it a blocked milk duct because I am prone to blocked ducts and those hurt a heck of a lot more than just feeling like I lifted too much weight. For me, it's my body's way of saying, "hey! when was the last time you nursed?" it is important to note that my son is almost 2 1/2 years old.

I have stabbing pain in the breast tissue and my dr said that it was a milk duct so just keep nursing. Unless you have the signs of an infection your dr is going to say clogged milk ducts.

maybe your milk ducts got plugged do warm compreses. If it's red and warm around it it might be infection and you have to take care of that. If it's only plugged nurse a lot and pump if you have to I was also massaging the spot when I had it
