breastfeeding and bleeding...

I thought that one of the perks of breastfeeding was to postpone your period. I delivered on Oct. 10th and just started bleeding yesterday. I did start birthcontrol (Camila) last week. Is anyone else having this problem?

While ecological breastfeeding (a very strict lifestyle regarding breastfeeding choices) is extremely effective at postponing fertility, most women don't practice every aspect of it- and that increases the liklihood of having your fertility return.

That being said, there are indeed some women who need to have prolactin levels much much higher than most women in order to continue lactational amennorhea.

I am! I stopped bleeding after about 3 1/2 weeks (I delivered Oct. 14th) Then strted up 3 days before my six week appt! The dr said it was normal to do but it gets heavier then lighter and continues that pattern! It's driving me crazy! I will start the BC on Sunday and I am hoping it helps! =)
