Breastfeeding and periods?????

Am breastfeeding my 4 month old and thought that you didnt get periods while breastfeeding, ive had two so far about 6 weeks apart which is normal, but they have been Very heavy which is not normal for me? Whats the go????

Usually, you start getting your period once your LO stops feeding at night. As for the heaviness, be prepared for periods that are not normal for a WHILE. It was almost a year after my first one that things started getting normal - and then I got pregnant again! :)

Some breastfeeding moms get their periods and some don't for a while. I was a lucky one. I didn't get my period until just 2 weeks ago, and my son was 13 months. I've heard that the first period(s) can be heavy and painful, but that can also be different. Mine was the same as always. If you are worried, I would talk to your gyno.

Nope you still get your periods while you are breast feeding. Actually majority of BF mums do. For the heavy heavy is heavy? You might need to go to the doctor. If it's way heavy and lasting like 2 weeks...might be you're not getting enough iron. To be safe go doctors and ask about what's normal for your periods just to be on the safe side.
