Breastfeeedin and NO weight loss!

I was wondering if anyone else is breastfeeding and not loosing weight? I have heard everywhere that feeding helps you loose weight so fast and on and on. I breastfeed, eat well, and exercise almost everyday and cant loose more than a pound, to gain it back in a couple days. Just wondering if anyone is in the same boat. Or if anyone lost the weight fast when they quit b.f...I'm not going to quit to lose it, (I love b.f) but am hopeful that when the time comes I may just drop the weight.

Nursing mothers needs at least 1800 calories a day (more if you exercise), because nursing (exclusively) commands up to 750 extra calories per day (between 400 and 600 on average. Usually when you drop weight when you're done nursing it means you weren't eating enough calories when you were nursing and your metabolism had slowed down to compensate and preserve your milk supply. and

Either that or you're eating exactly the amount of calories your body is burning up, which would be around 2500, depending on your height/weight and activity level.

I'd suggest counting up your calories for a few days to see what your average is. If it's too low, try upping your calories to about 2000 per day for two weeks to help your body come out of starvation mode. If your calories are too high, try cutting down to between 1800 - 2000. If you do this you should start to see weight loss of about 1 pound per week.

Same with me. I lost a little with my first child, but not enough. Now I have twins and thought for sure I would lose,  but no! It is very frustrating I know, but it's nice to hear I am not the only one who can't lose weight while bf.

I am having the same problem. I have been B.F. for 10months now and have stayed about the same weight.

It makes you so hungry I think you end up eating what your baby needs and not losing the extra weight. I lost it all afterwards when my appetite dropped and my son started running around!

I'm another one who held on to 10 lbs of extra weight until I weaned. After that the 10 lbs came off within 3 months without really changing anything diet or exercise. My second is 1 month old, and I dropped 1 lb/day after I came home from the hospital until I got to 10 lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight. I guess my body just thinks it needs the extra weight to make sure the milk factory can stay open.

My mother said she wasn't able to lose the last 10-15 lbs until she stopped either. I lost pretty slowly at first but was back to prepregnancy weight at 7 months pp witheach baby. From 5-10 months it really melted off and I was actually thinner at 10 months than before I got pg both times. Unfortunately I had gotten rid of my "skinny" clothes when the babes were 4 or 5 months thinking I'd never fit inthem again. So, give it some time. Also, some women just find it extrememly difficult to lose the baby wieght nursing or not.

For me I lost the big chunk of weight quickly but kept almost 10 extra pounds on until i stopped breasteeding my son. I am BFing my daughter now and am still storing about the same amount of weight. I think my body wants to hold on to that amount of weight to make good milk. Could be the same for you.

I lost 15 kg in the first 4 weeks but then nothing untill this week when i just suddenly dropped 5 more kgs. My bub is just over 3 months. So now im at the weight i was before i got pregnant but i still need to loose at least 20 more. I thought i would have lost it alot quicker with what everyone says too.

Yeah, never works for me either. I always drop weight when Im done nursing!?!?! Maybe some people just store it different to ensure enough to produce milk? Kinda frustrating when you hear about how fast it "melts"!!!
