Confused boobs!?

I breastfed Alexander for 18 months. We stopped about 6 months ago now, and my breasts had stopped producing milk about 3-4 months ago. I am in my OB clinical for nursing school, and suddenly last night after my first day on the unit my breasts were super tender. This morning I woke up and I have MILK real full ducts and leaking milk. I have never heard of such a thing. I am not pregnant (just finished a cycle and took a test just to be doubly sure) I am wondering if it is possible that the crying of the infants on the unit brought this on or if my body is just nuts =P I made a doctor's appointment for next Friday, but am curious more than anything.
such bizarre bodies women have. Any one ever heard of this "galactorrrhea" or have any guesses/comments/suggestions?
and is this too cute or what, my nearly 2 year old was cuddling with me and must have smelled it because he says "Mommy! Breasts? Milkies! YUMMY!!!" and proceeded to, with perfect latch, help himself to this new magical milk supply. (it was about 3 or 4 sucks before he got bored but it was adorable!)

Yep, I've heard of that happening too. There are some grandmas that have even breastfed their grandchildren in this way! Sounds like a sweet moment with your son :)

i have heard of women randomly producing milk for even years after weaning.

Id say it is very possible the babies triggered that maternal response in your body.

there is actually another thread about the same thing in another group i belong to.
