Hi Everyone,
I have been observing that 2-3days before my periods, during periods and 2-3 days after periods the milk supply is low compare to how it is on other days. is it common? do most of you face or have faced this problem?

I just had my baby boy Aiden on 2-23-13, my period just came back and my milk production came almost to a complete stop....I only pump due to inverted nipples, and take fenugreek(which hasn't seemed to help this utterly scary experience(I don't know if I can keep up...currently walking around like a chicken with its head cut off)but thanks for asking the question.. I cannot wait till my milk comes back and I can put my head back in place:)

Sometimes when I use fenugreek I notice Kaitlyn gets a bit gassier than normal, and not fussy, just gassy. And when she was really little (6 weeks old) I think it may have made her poop more?? Hard to say at that age, she was going all the time! Since she's older now (8 months) I don't use it as often, but when I do I don't notice a change in her. Also, it says on the bottle not to use if you are pregnant. I found a huge difference in my milk supply within the day of taking fenugreek, and it's not too expensive either!

I have not tried Fenugreek but i have drank the Mother's Milk Tea, you can get it at GNC and it helped at the beginning since my milk supply was soo low it helped, I will try to drink some again to see if it helps while Menstruating.

I was wondering that same thing. My little one is now 8 1/2 months and I just got my first period and I realized that my milk supply has dropped but I surely did not put two and two together until I just read this post.

I also notice the same thing. I try and drink lots of fluids and my prenatals as well. I have also taken a herbal supplement called fenugreek which increases your milk supply during my mentrual cycle to keep my milk up.

ideally you would continue to take your prenatals , which are recommended to continue while nursing.

I have notice this same issue. I just continue to nurse/pump and my supply always seems to come back. I do take my prenatals and an extra calcium, mag & zinc supplement daily.

Yes, it's normal. Drink lots of fluids and take your vitamins. Keep on nursing/pumping, it's a supply and demand thing.

I work full time so I hardly nurse him directly more than once a day. Rest of the times its exclusive pumping.

Yes, it's normal. Hormonal flucations. Just nurse nurse nurse and keep hydrated. I have experienced this, and my supply always went back to normal.
