Expressed breastmilk

Hi my Healyh Visitor said I when I am out and my husband is feeding my baby expressed Breast milk he shouldnt be feedin her on demand. Does anybody know why???? it was advised that my LO should have 5oz every 4 hours. My daughter won't take more then 3oz at a time. !!

No she was clear in her explanation, just kept repeating herself. I couldn't understand why the bottle would be different to nursing.

Some kids seem to naturally be on a schedule, but don't try to force your child on one. Your baby is smart enough to know when she is or is not hungry, so let her be in charge. That is really weird advice... did she tell you why?

That's the most unusual advice I've ever heard...My son is 10 months old and still can't eat more than 4oz at a time, when my husband would bottle feed him many times he'd only take an oz or so and eat every hr. You can't force a baby to eat more than they want to and you need to feed them when they are hungry, just like breast feeding.

I would follow your daughter's lead. It is better to bottle feed a breastfed baby in small amounts, often. Breast milk is digested quickly no matter the source (breast or bottle). Here's some info on bottle feeding the breastfed baby. Making her take that much at once will probably just make her throw it back up.
