My daughter is 11 months and I plan to continue breast feeding untill SHE decides it is time to stop or untill its absolutely necessary. 1 year olds are still babies and alot of people don't recognize that. Don't worry about what others think and just remind them that its somthing special to you, comforting to her, and continues to be benificial for her even at her age. This is a perfect article: http://www.circleofmoms.com/breastfeedin...

No one told me I SHOULD stop, but some people wanted to know when I was going to wean and wondered why I wasn't going to just wean already. It started around a year, but eventually people just shut up.

He turned 3 at the end of March and we nursed til July 1. We'd STILL be nursing, but he's been w/ his father for 2 weeks and won't be home for 2 more.... so we're weaned.

I take that back. My NP told me I should stop when he was 2.5 cuz I came to her w/ some physical issues (exhaustion being one of them). I'm no longer interested in being her patient which really sucks cuz she's been great for the past 11 years. And guess what lady (her)? I haven't nursed him in 2 weeks and I'm STILL constantly exhausted..... ;)

I just stopped telling those who were unsupportive. Whenever we're out my daughter has a sippy cup of water so I don't have to bf her, and no one is over when it's time for her to go to bed. My husband supports my decision and to me that's all that matters, otherwise I just don't talk about it.
