I will be returning to work soon and i would like to increase my milk supply to be able to pump enough milk to get through the time away from my daughter. Ive read alot about fenugreek but im still nervous about taking it. Has anyone spoken to their pediatricians about it? I have to bring my daughter in for her check up this pm, and am going to mention it, but just wondering what you all have been told.

I don't know Fenugreek made the difference or not but it made our LO's tummy horribly gassy. I stopped taking fenugreek and started drinking "Healthy Nursing Tea". It did work, boosted my supply and never hurt my lil's tummy.

Yes, my pediatrician was actually the person that recommended it to me to increase my supply.

Quoting Amanda:

I called my lactation consultant and she said that it is perfectly fine, she also gave me some other suggestions: mothersmilk tea, which I have also seen some of the other moms on here talk about- none of them said how yucky it is though LOL, at least I didnt like the taste, putting some suger and lemon in it helps another suggestion was , when you are puming and your milk runs out continue to pump for two more minutes, if you have lots of time on your hands: pump for ten minutes once an hour for 6 hours straight.
My bottle of fenugreek says to take two pills after two meals during the day, I have been doing that for 5 days now and I think I am going to increase how much I am taking because it doesnt seem to be increasing my milk very much
good luck

Yes!  My LaLeche League leader said to take about 12 Fenugreek/day and warned that your under arms (sweat) will start to smell like maple syrup.

I mentioned to my Naturopathic Physician, I've been taking it for a while.

He said it's fine and he also recommended Mother's Milk Tea (which tastes really good if you don't mind licorice).

I hope it all works out for you and your baby!
