Formula and breastmilk?

My son is about a week out from being 6 months old. And my doctor is of course recommending solid foods. I had originally planned on weaning him @ 6 months off of the breast. But reluctantly I am already feeling guilty about it. So I have come up with a plan, Morning and night breast feedings, with only formula and solid foods during the day....My question is, have any of you done it this way and how did you feel? (emotionally feel)

My daughter is 7.5 months old and we haven't started weaning yet, so I know I can't exactly relate...but to even think about weaning does make me feel a little sad. I think I will go until 1 year old, but deciding to wean/when and how is a big deal and many moms do feel emotional about it. I have several friends who actually cried after their babies were completely weaned, knowing they will never again bf them. Don't ever let even anyone or even your pediatrician pressure you into weaning before you feel it is time for you and your baby. Go at a pace that seems right to YOU, emotionally and all.
