getting enough?...

So my daughter is 4 months 2 weeks old and I have been exclusively breastfeeding this whole time. Recently i have been feeling like Caitlin doesnt eat enough. It seem like she eats ALOT more than other babies. She eats like every hour lately. sometimes if were busy she waits and during the night its about every 3 hours. She is often whiny and will only eat for a short amount of time and get whiny again. It really seems like she is not getting enough milk lately. At her dr appts she has been gaining weight. I feel like this is a recent thing. I totally believe babies should have only breastmilk. Especially first 6 months. I dont want to give her formula but i would rather her not be hungry. Any thoughts?...

I agree with the previous posters! It's totally normal for breastfed babies to want to eat more often.

As far as your worry that she's getting enough..How's her dipe count? About 6 or so? Is she overall healthy? If so, your supply is fine.

Totally agree with Hannah. Also the more you nurse her right now, your body will start making more (if supply is the issue) . Just keep drinking plenty of fluids and doing what you are doing! She could be teething too, that makes them a little uncomfortable when eating and they might do shorter stints.

most babies hit a growth spurt right around 4 mos, so it's normal that she may want to eat more frequently. You should feed "on demand" and a long as she's making at least 6 wet diapers a day, she should be getting enough. If you supplement, you will start making less milk. Good luck!

she is probably in her growth spurt! at 4 months old, my son would often marathon feed. it is a stage and she will grow out of it! love the name caitllin by the way and the spelling too!!
