My 7 week old had green poop yesterday......what does that mean?

ok, while i was breast feeding my son he had green poop. my lactation consultant told me that is strictly because he is teething. nothing to do with what he is eating. his mouth is producing more slaiva that he is swallowing or something to that effect. in turn, it will make his poop look green. i know your baby is only 7 weeks old, but you never know. i have heard of babies being born with a tooth! i have also heard that mothers often fret over their babies poop! it shouldn't even worry you at all. you are going to be seeing alot of yucky/unusual stuff! hope that helps.

All colors of poop (practically) are TOTALLy normal for a baby, especially a breastfed one. The colors can come from some tiny little ingredient in something you ate even. There's no cause for alarm or worry. There can be an indication of foremilk/hindmilk, but even that isn't really anything to worry about. Check out for lots of great info. Good luck! :)

it is very much about the hind milk/fore milk imbalance.. doc said when you get a diaper like that to switch to block feedings... one side at a time... if it happens for more than one diaper call the doc, but if it happens one time and goes away baby probably fell asleep too quick or you got rushed... both have happened to me...

My son had green poop every now and then ( like maybe once a month), don't worry about it unless it happens for maybe 2 or 3 days ( and depending on how many dirty diapers their are)

My baby boy had green poop, and his doc said it may be because of foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. If he doesn't get enough of the hindmilk, the high-fat stuff, he digests everything much quicker and the poop is green instead of yellow. She suggested keeping him feeding longer on first side, instead of feeding a little out of each side. Other possible reasons may include inability to digest milk protein from your diet. There are many resources on the web if you google it.

Don't think it's anything to worry about. Since your breastfeeding... have you eaten any licorice lately?
