Growth spurt?

My three week old, for the last three days, has been acting very hungry all the time. Like I'll be stuck on my couch/bed for hours at a time. Before this he ate every 2 hours during the day, up to every 4 at night. He was 7lbs 12oz at birth he is now 9lbs. Today he has been extra fussy, I try feeding him, he will go on for a little bit but than start fussing again. His diaper is fresh, he's not to warm or cold, but he pulls away from my breast like he's unhappy. He has always been very gassy, I do give him gas drops a few times a day. He also has plenty of wet and soiled diapers every day. He poops a LOT. I am just wondering because this behavior just started, is this just a growth spurt?

Hi Lori. Yes this is very normal for a three week old. Babies typically go through growth spurts at ages 3, and 6 weeks where they eat and eat and eat. I have six children and breastfed them all and it seemed to hold true every time. Hang in there he will go back to his pattern soon. Best wishes ;)
