I am about to start school next month and I need to start pumping milk and storing it because I refuse to give my son formula. My son is 3 months old and he immediately latched on when he was born with no problem, I brought the nurser bottles that mimic breastfeeding because they seem to be the only bottle nipple he would take. I gave him a bottle like 2 times so far and he struggles and fights with me first but then he takes it, I want to know how can I get him to take a bottle more than once a day. Any advice??

Yea Alana, I did switch to the Playtex drop ins. He almost thinks its a boobie lol but only sometimes he will take it. And he always turns to whoever is holding him, breast...

Try what Cassie said, have someone else try to feed him, he associates you with the breast. You may also want to consider trying a different nipple. I bought some really cool bottles that were suppose to be closest to the breast but my daughter didn't do well with them at all. I ended up using platex drop ins and haven't had a problem going between breast and bottle.

Start by having someone else feed her with the bottle. She knows you have her and you have what in my house we refer to as 'the good stuff' : ) She doesn't understand why you are giving her this when you have the good stuff, what she wants. I was very against anyone else feeding my daughter and it took me a lot to let someone else feed her but I knew I needed her to start taking a bottle because my supply was short and even though I wanted to continue breastfeeding wanted to be sure my girl got enough. She fought the bottle hard until someone else tried feeding it to her and she took it... after a while she finally started taking it from me also. maybe try a standard bottle nipple also. The one you are using may be causing a 'feels like I should be getting the good stuff but what the heck is this???' confution!

You have to keep trying, everyday as many times as you can. Even if it's a few ounces and then you have to breastfeed him. If you stop he might not ever take it. I gave a bottle to my daughter a few times then stopped. Then one day a few weeks later she refused it and I tried and tried. Needless to say she never took a bottle. They say some breastfed babies never take a bottle. So good luck and keep trying.
