I am the mother to two boys, 5 and 3 months. I breastfed my firstborn with no porblems. He transitioned well to the bottle when it was time for me to go back to work. He took the bottle with breastmilk while I was at work and I brestfed him when we were together. HOWEVER, my 3-month old is another story. He refuses the bottle (with breastmilk). I have tried Avent, Playtex, Tommie Tippie, Gerber, and the Soothie bottles. He is very attached to momma and her breasts (lol). He won't even take a pcifier and I've tried 4 different varieties and have just given up on that.

For the past week I have been consistently giving him the same bottle (and have had my husband and other relatives give him the bottle) at the same time everyday to no avail. He cries, pushes the nipple out of his mouth, tightens his lips, and turns his head away. I am returning to work on Jan 3rd and don't know what to do. I can't leave him for longer than a coupe of hours because he won't eat. He recently stayed with my mom for four hours and refused to take the bottle at all! She is desparate to bond with him by being able to feed him just as my husband is. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions??????

@ Brittany, thank you so much for that suggestion. My son is taking the breastflow bottle and he even takes it from me. He loves it and if he is not finished he will move his head toward the bottle and cry for more. They are awesome and such a natural feeding that simulates breat feeding. @ Karla, and I am suing the #2 nipples so thanks to you as well.

My son did the same thing right before I had to go back to work and I feel your pain. What helped us was moving to a #2 nipple. Hope that will help!!!

breastflow bottles! ♥ them! the only ones my son would take. the avent bottles are a joke. over priced and really unnatural feeling.
