I don't know what to do anymore...Suddenly out of the blue for the past 3 days my 8 month old son refuses to nap. He will fall asleep at my breast but every time I try to put him down he just wakes up crying. And please don't tell me that I should just sit there with him attached to my breast for the course of the entire nap, because I think it is a little too much...Because of this nap crisis he doesn't sleep well at night either. I just want to cry...what to do?
I left him in his crib now but he won't sleep either and he doesn't cry he just sits there babbling and getting angry once in a while. Is it possible that he is trying to get rid off his morning nap? Isn't it too early? He never was a great napper 1:45 min was the duration of his naps all day. 30 min morning and 1.15 afternoon...Please someone....help

It sounds like you are doing great for him! I also live in NY but not the city! My daughter has always been a SUPER light sleeper and will wake up at the sound of a pinprick lol. I have to keep her in a very quiet room with as little light as possible and make sure no one goes in there while she is napping. Even if we stay in the next room with the door shut we have to whisper! It sounds like your son is similar. My daughter's nap schedule did change when she was about 8 months. Before that, she would wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, go back to sleep for a couple hours, then she would take an hour nap at 1 and an hour nap at 5 and be in bed at 9:30. Then it changed to not sleeping at all during the day and at the most, 3 hours at night for a week then changed again to waking up for breakfast, skipping morning nap, sleeping for 2 hours at 1 and one hour at 5 and then bed at 9:30. Maybe your son is just going through something like this. Whatever it is, it's best to just do your best to stay patient and let him work it out for himself. It wont take long!

i don't drink coffee or soda, we go out a lot and we live in NYC so there is stimulation even at home. Fire trucks are going through our neighborhood 10 times a day no joke! And if they happen to pass by his window during the nap, foget it....But now morning nap he won't take even without any interruptions. I'm trying Elizabeth Pantley solutions, but until now he was fine nursing to sleep only for naps, at night he falls asleep on his own (but still wakes up2-4 times)

My daughter goes through those phases that last a week sometimes where she wont nap at all during the day and at night she will sleep at 10 minute intervals at night! It's so awful! I have to make sure that I take her somewhere stimulating during the day like grocery shopping and teaching her about everything and everyone we see or we will go to a park or library or church where there are other kids that she can play with and other adults.

How often does your son get out of the house? Also, pay close attention to your caffeine and sugar intake and make sure that's not effecting him too.

I know how frustrating and exhausting it is but he will start napping again soon, it wont be permanent! =)
