I have been weening my 1 year old from breastfeeding and it's been going great. I went from 3-4 feedings a day, down to two, then one. I would usually feed him first thing in the morning when he woke up and he would go back to sleep for an hour or so. This morning we had to get up early anyway, so I decided just to not nurse him. I am already getting engorged and I know it's only going to get worse. So what do I do? I know if I pump, it'll just produce more milk. I can't pump anyway because my pump is in a storage building and I am snowed in. Somebody told me to put frozen cabbage in my bra to dry up the milk, but I don't have any. It hasn't started hurting yet, but I know it will. Can anybody help?

I found that taking a hot shower released just enough milk (without stimulating the increased production of milk) to make me more comfortable. After the snow melts Earth Mama Angel Baby makes a tea called no more milk tea. with herbs that are supposed to help the milk supply decrease. good luck

Do you have any sudafed or any decongestants? That usually can help dry you up. Sage can, too.

Hand express just enough to relieve the engorgement. If you can, do so in the shower or bath tub, the warm water will make it a little easier.
