How can I prevent so much spit up while co sleeping and breast feeding in the side by side position?

I currently have a one month old baby, and we are co-sleeping and breast feeding, he is really good at latching on and feeding at night, however when he is burped afterward he spits up, like a lot! is there a way to prevent this while still doing the side lying position? This is the only way we both get sleep rather than getting up to nurse. any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Does he only spit up a lot after nursing while laying down? Or does he always spit up after nursing and burping? If it's only when he's been laying flat, he may have a bit of reflux and he may do better overall if he's kept at a slight incline. You could use a pillow for you, and a wedge for him????

I never burped my LO's when we were sleeping. Unless they fed and then were restless - which wasn't often. Generally they nursed to sleep and stayed asleep.

If you're getting lots of spit up at every feed, you may want to consider that your LO may have a food allergy or intolerance. The most common one for babies is to cow milk, but it could be to wheat, soy, fish, nuts, etc. The only sign of the intolerance may be spit up/throw up, or there can be other signs. Eczema, congestion, mucus in stool, diaper rash - can all be signs of food allergy or intolerance.
