I have a 8 month old daughter who has been breastfed and is now also on baby food as well. I am trying to return to work and she will NOT take a bottle for the life of her, not with breastmilk, formula, water, juice anything she will not take a sippy either! any advice i feel like ive tried it all! doctors say if shes hungry enough she will take it.. i had surgery and couldnt breastfeed for 24 hours, she STILL didnt take it she only ate the baby food!

Try starting her by using your straw use your finger to hold the fluid in the straw and slowly release your finger as she starts trying to suck on the straw.

Thanks! I literally have tried them all it feels like and no luck! I'm hoping daycare will help break her in... I tried the ones with straws and so far we've had progress she hasn't figured out how to suck out of it yet but she isn't throwing a fit!

sure. I hope it works for you. It may take a couple tries to get your baby to suck out of the straw, but once she gets it, it'll be easy for her. Don't know what it is about a straw, but my LO just loves to drink out of a straw.

My LO just turned 1, and she has always refused a bottle. Around 6 months I started trying to give her sippy cups, but she didn't want much to do with those either. She might start to drink out of it, but then would just spit out whatever was in it... water, milk, juice, etc. I just kept offering (mostly water) the sippy cup throughout the day. She was about 9 months old before she started drinking more than one mouthful from a sippy. I did find that she likes straw sippy cups better than other cups. Try a cup with a straw if you haven't yet. And just keep trying. As she gets used to the sippy being around, she'll be more willing to drink from it.
