How long until milk "dries up"?

I just finished nursing my 13 month old and I'm wondering how long until my milk dries up? I weaned over one month and pump every couple of days now to relieve the pressure on my chest. I only pump out one oz at a time but my breasts are still full!

mine dried up within 24 hours after my son stopped breast feeding (we had to switch him to formula anyway) i couldn't pump after he stopped (even though i could do it just fine when he was feeding) I don't know whether it has something to do with he fact that i stopped when he was 6 weeks old or not but it didn't take that long at all

The nurses in the hospital told me to put cabbage leaves over my breast when I wanted to dry up the milk quickly..within a couple of days. No joke!! I haven't tried it yet, but have heard of others who say it works. Pull of one full leaf and lay it on your breast so it fully covers it, inside your bra. Change it out halfway through the day. Do this for about 2-3 days and the milk should stop comming in by then.

Hope this helps.

It actually takes about 3 mths- at least it did for me w/ my first one. Try to pump less and less as time goes on. Your body will get the picture after a few days, and will begin the drying up process. You should get more comfortable in another wk or 2.
