How often does a BF baby poop?

I BF my son (now 2 1/2) and I don't remember how often he pooped each day. My one month old daughter seems to be pooping ALL THE TIME. When she was three weeks old she had some foamy poop and just kept going all day. About 15 diapers or more. My lactation counselor told me that may be due to high lactose in my milk and her pediatrician said it may be my diet.

I cut dairy out of my diet around the same time she hit a growth spurt (a few days ago) and she is now pooping about 10 times a day. I don't know if it was the dairy or if she is just a baby that poops a lot.

This is driving me crazy because I can't always hear when she goes and she is getting a diaper rash, again.

I hope she will outgrow this soon.

If her poops are frothy or watery and green then it sounds like lactose overload due to too much foremilk. Make sure that she is thoroughly emptying the breast before you switch sides. You may not need to cut out dairy. If you feel her symptoms are improving it's not because you cut dairy. It takes about 2 weeks for all of the milk proteins to be out of your system. I would try the tips here before cutting dairy that way you know which one fixed the problem.
