If you've ever tried Mother's Milk tea

[deleted account] ( 7 moms have responded )

I have a few questions:

1. Does it work?

2. If i drink it and my supply becomes plentiful, can i stop drinking it?

3. Any side effects?

4. How long until i see a difference?

1. I've never even heard of it!

2. Supply generally meets demand when it comes to breastfeeding - your breasts "learn" what and when the baby needs and meet that need... in an ideal world.

3. dunno

4. dunno

I bought "healthy nursing tea" from amazon and it worked great. I am now producing enough to feed my little one satisfactorily.

1. It worked for me.
2. Yes, you can taper off drinking the tea if your supply goes up and if drinking it is a chore.
3. No side effects from the brand I drank, Traditional Medicines tea.
4. I'm sure it's different for everyone. I think consistency is the key. I just had a cup every morning and made a pitcher of ice tea in the summer.

I don't know whether fenugreek works or not, but I live in an area with a large Pakistani and Indian population and fenugreek (also called methi) is commonly used in curries - so you could get some and cook with it rather than taking a food supplement. I like to parboil some potatoes, then fry them with some tumeric, coriander, fresh finely chopped ginger, a little bit of salt and about a tablespoon of fenugreek leaves until the potatoes start to get a bit of a crust around the edges - yummy!

I have tried it and I actually keep some on hand.
1. It worked for me, but you need to drink 3-5 cups a day, I had to drink 5-6
2. I stop drinking it when my supply comes back
3. Everyone is different, my side effect was I had a bit more gas :o(
4. When I used it it took 1-2 days before I noticed it increased my supply.

You can also take Fenugreek tablets, found in health food stores, but my side effect of the teas was increased using this and I didn't see much more of supply than using the tea.
The teas has a licorice taste, I like it personally but some people don't like licorice.

i don't like tea, so i got the pill capsules called More Milk Plus..made by a company called MotherLove. Did not notice a difference. But if people post that the tea works wonders..maybe I will pinch my nose and gulp it down.
