Introducing Solids

I was just wondering how people introduce solids to their BF babies. Do you nurse then feed, feed then nurse, or feed solids in between nursing sessions. I am a first time mom and don't really have any friends or family members who nurse. Also, do you give water or juice when feeding?

when I first started feeding solids, my baby was about 6 months old. I nursed first, then offered some solids. When fist starting out, just offer once a day. My first one was ready, and loved just about anything I put in front of her. With my 2nd one it took a few months to figure out she wasn't going to let me feed her anything. She had to do it herself. Once I got that figured out, she started eating a bit more solids.. but mostly soft finger foods like cut up banana.

I'd recommend you look up baby led weaning. It's a great way to introduce solid foods.

I didn't start offering even water until my baby was eating dry foods like cheerios. And I didn't offer even watered down juice until after their first birthday.

I nurse first then give solids about 1 hour after. I give my baby just sips of water after giving him solids.

Nurse first and then solids-nursing is to be the main source of nutrition and solids are complementary. I didn't give any water or juice.
