My 5 week old falls asleep so much easier when he is laying his tummy when resting on my chest. Can I ever let him sleep on his tummy? What age is it safe to do that?

My second baby is a tummy sleeper. I would do everything you can - swaddling help some- to get him to sleep on his back. If he is lying on your chest and you are awake your breathing and heart beat will keep his regulated but doing so makes some babies less likely to get used to sleeping on their backs. I am just saying from experience. I gave in with my son and I worried every night until a month ago when he started rolling both ways. Once your baby can roll from both ways it is okay to let them sleep on their belly.

When he is rolling over onto his tummy by himself it's safe to let him stay that way.
