Haven't been here awhile, but just wanted to share. When I gave birth to my son 2 years ago, I figured I'd try to breastfeed him if I could. At least for a couple weeks. My nipples really hurt. A couple weeks turned into a couple months. I struggled with supply issues and pumping. A couple months turned to six months, which turned to 1 year, which turned to extended breastfeeding.

I got pregnant. I nursed the whole way through pregnancy. I'm tandem nursing now. It almost seems like a piece of cake, because I don't feel frustrated with supply issues any more.

I hear lots of negativity over extended breastfeeding, but it's rewarding. It is so rewarding for my 2 babies to look at each other while they are nursing.

Oh that's just lovely Jennifer! I am still nursing my 19 months old and if my cycle would just ever kick in I'd love to get pregnant again and do what you are doing now. It's so encouraging to hear stories like yours, so thanks for sharing!

Awww... what a wonderful story!

I didn't get AF back until my son was 18 mths, and they were very irregular for about a year. He was still nursing when I got pregnant with this one, but he was just over 3 and hardly nursing at all anymore. He did tell me it tasted funny, and he didn't want it anymore. So, I won't be tandem nursing this one, but I won't be surprised if my son wants boo-boo again.

Hmm.. I wonder why my cycles still haven't come back! Nursing my daughter for 17 months now and no sign of AF! :(

Like, Jennifer, I also charted my cycles. It only took us about 3 months of trying before I got pregnant.

My son never stopped nursing (I did ask him to when I was in labor). He did say "yuck" about the taste at times, and it made him sick a few times right before I gave birth, but it turned out ok.

I had an easy time getting pregnant while nursing. I did chart my BBT and my cycles were extremely irregular.

how did you get pregnant while nursing? i got pregnant 4 months after my lil one stopped feeding on her own, she decided she liked daddy better. but now that i am 10 weeks pregnant she has been trying to feed and i am not producing anything.

That's so great to hear! I'm 26 weeks pregnant and nursing my 23 month old. My milk seems to be changing over, but she still asks to nurse 1-3 times a day. I'm open to tandem nursing as long as my daughter wants to continue. Congrats on your new baby!
