Lactation cookies

Someone in another online community passed this recipe on to helps increase your supply. I've tried it and it really does work. Plus the cookies are delicious and who doesn't want an excuse to eat cookies right? Just thought I would post this after seeing so many posts about supply issues.

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons flaxseed meal*
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
1 cup or more chocolate chips
2 tablespoons of brewers yeast** (be generous)

Preheat oven at 375 degrees F. Mix together 2
tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes.

Cream (beat well) butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix
well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine
mix. Beat until blended.

Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine
Stir in oats then chips.

Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment or
silpat. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.

Bake 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.

Serves: 6 dozen cookies

I am drinking "Healthy nursing tea". Honestly doesn't taste the best but definitely helped build up a supply and is great for growth spurts to make sure I'm still producing enough for my little princess!

Just wanted to bump this up. I also made the cookies and felt they helped maintain my supply during those earlu growth spurts. I don't know whether it was reall the ingrediaents themselves, or just ensuring that i was consuming enough calories, but they really did help. And they're yummy :-)

FYI, i made some minro changes - i used 3/4c of each of the sugars (and they were still plenty sweet for me), i used a little more flax meal, and i added dried cranberries and walnuts (plus the choc chips).

I made some similar ones the other day and thought about taking them to a neighbor who just had a baby...but then I ate them all...oops...

Thanks for posting!
