Hi everyone,

We are going on a holiday at easter, unfortunately to get there is about a 16hour drive away. Our son will be 9mo, anyone have any tips for me?

We did a trip when our son was 9mths also which involved a 8hr journey or so both ways. We did break it up the first time with an over night stay but as bub fell asleep and stayed asleep we just 'kept driving' on the way home (he slept for three hours!). Umm I am trying to remember what we did. Most of the time one of us sat with him to pass toys and read him books. We stopped to breast feed but I would feed him lunch on the go. I used a thermos of hot water to heat up his usual solids. This would mean he was happy for 20mins or so of driving time. We left just after breakfast then drove for a couple of hours - bub would have a short nap, we stopped for a breastfeed and a walk around for 30mins. Drove for another couple of hours then had a lunch stop, quick walk around, heated lunch up then back in the car for lunch. Corey would then sleep for a couple of hours. We would then stop for a breast feed and a quick play. So lots of books and toys in the car, I had no shade cover on his window when he wasn't in the sun so he could look out the window, kids music for singing to, lots of snacks - rusks, dried fruit etc So when bub slept we drove and drove - no toilet stops or anything! He was happiest when asleep! We found as he started crawling just as we got back he then HATED being in the car seat, not sure if it was from the holiday or cos he could now move around but it took a while to get him over it! Good luck, it wasn't the best couple of days travel but it was some fun family time!
