Low mik supply

Alyssa - posted on 06/18/2010 ( 2 moms have responded )

I've been nursing for only two months and have almost no milk! I've tried everything! I feed her often and pump after I've even tried sleep, drinking more water, mothers milk tea, etc. Baby is on formula most of the time now because she is not getting enough food. I'm so frustrated! Is there anything else I can do? I'm only getting an oz of milk now and that's if I'm lucky!

Need more info! Why do think you have no milk? Why are you thinking she's not getting enough to eat?

One thing to keep in mind that pump output is *not* an indicator of supply. 1 oz is actually pretty average. Normal pumping output is 1/2 oz to 2 oz total.

i feel the same, my daughter is 7 weeks old, i was made to do top up bottles after my daughter was admitted to hospital due to loosing weight i was told to breast feed her for as long as she would feed and then offer her a small bottle as a top up i have also tried pumping after each feed and cant even get a drop out it makes me so frustrated i started eating oats alot porrage, biscuits, cereal bars as i was told it helps increase breast milk and i have noticed a difference i work with the dietition and were hoping to gradually give up using the formula when she begins gaining weight
