My daughter is 8 1/2 months old and my body is no longer making enough milk. This has been and issue for a couple of months. I have tried many things to increase my supply, to no avail!
My question is this...is there a best way to get a breastfed baby to take formula?? Mine wants nothing to do with it. I've tried mixing it with the breastmilk, but I am literally almost out of stored milk. Any tips would be appreciated!

I have tried a bunch of remedies to increase my low breast milk production and finally Healthy nursing tea worked and my supply got a boost.

Sara, why are you sure your body is no longer making milk? This issue is often more perceived than real. Many mums feel that if their baby is fussy, they're hungry. This is not necessarily the case - they could be teething, they could be having a growth spurt, they could be uncomfortable ....

AS LONG AS YOUR BABY IS BREASTFEEDING, YOUR BREASTS ARE MAKING MILK.

Breastfeeding is a supply and demand system. Your breasts respond to your baby's sucking to make milk. Your body is NOT independent of your baby's sucking. The more your baby feeds, the more milk your body makes.

If a fully breastfed baby has several wet nappies a day and some pooey ones, and is gaining some weight, even a tiny amount, she's getting enough. This rule is probably not correct for you now, as your little one would be having solids, but try and remember how she was going when she was only having breastmilk.

So if you want to continue with breastfeeding, you can - just let your little girl feed whenever she wants, perhaps pump between feeds.

Have you contacted a lactation consultant, or LLL? All the best!

i would ask your doctor for a medication to increase milk supply, try tea to increase breastmilk, drink more fluids...it is hard to convince a baby to like formula and no one here can help you to do that on this site as it follows breastfeeding guidelines...have you called la leche? it is a great resource!! all the best
