medication and drying up

hello, I have a 10 month old baby. Since she was born I have only nursed her. She has about 8 Oz once a week when she is with the sitter. I have also been pumping for other mothers this whole time. last week I got pneumonia and started a antibiotic and steroid. My milk has almost completely dried up:( I'm heart broken thinking it won't come back once I am done with medication. I have three more days till I'm done with my steroid pack. Does anyone know if my supply will return?????

this is a very complex issue. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, the steroids will slowly wear off. If you have had enough milk to supply other mothers, then it sounds like you have had an abundant milk supply and I suspect, as a nursing mom and as a nurse that you supply can return. I do have a concern about you pumping for other mothers, this can be a dangerous issues legally if one of their babies were to get sick. Are you being screened and you should not donate any milk at all when on medication.
