I am currently nursing my 2month old exclusivly. I have hypothyroid but since delivery I amon to much meds so at the moment am hyperthyroid. I am decreasing my meds but I feel my milk supply has gone down. I am doing nothing different with the baby. He eats on demand and I mean on demand. It seems to be every hour sometimes he might go 3 but not to offten. His dipers have not chenged. He also has started when he is at the breast to eat for about 2-3 min per side and the pull off repeativly. He then is done. He went from his 1 month 7-15 to at his 2 month 9-5 so he is gaining.

I think that if baby is gaining weight and seems full when he is done you should be ok. If you feel your supply went down because you don't get engorged anymore that is normal. My daughter did the same thing with only eating for a few minutes at a time and she did fine. but you could try a few supplements if you want I took 3 fenugreek 3 times a day and I also got a perscription from my doc for reglan and that worked pretty well.

Good luck

Yes they do. Hypothyroid in my case I had noooo milk supply with my first.  I have also read the hyper can cause no/low milk also.  I need to research it alittle more.  Since it is just short term that I am hyper.  I know that with hypo you are tired, cold all of the time, gaining wt, thinning hair, brittle nails.  If there is any question ask your ob to do a test.  I did not catch it until my 1st was a yr old and the whole breast feeding thing was to late.  I had it under control for my 2nd and nursed great.  Now we are having some medication issues so we will see.
