i am full time breastfeeding mom to my daughter until just this year when I started working again. Last September I worked full time (8-hr shift) and I can only nurse my daughter before I go to work and when I get home. Her feedings at night is still consistent. Then I stopped working after a month. Now I started working again, and this past few days she is having a diarrhea every night (after her night feedings). I am so alarmed because she never had this watery stool before, and I was wondering was it because of I've been out the house for too long that my breast milk is no longer good for her? Last September she never had this kind of problem. As to her food, it was still the same thing, she eats full meals and snacks. SO is this a sign I should discontinue breastfeeding? Please help. :|

I agree with the others. Breastmilk is never "not good" for her! As far as the diarrhea, KEEP nursing! That is the BEST thing to do.

Just read your comment. Yes the diarrhea and fever could be from teething, or like Andria said she could have a virus or I know here by me there is a viral infection going around which would cause all three!

Breast milk in the breast does not expire! Do not discontinue breast feeding. What is she having before bedtime? I doubt your breastmilk would go right through her like that. Is she pooing during the day or just at night?
Try the brats diet!
B-banana
R-rice
A-applesauce
T-toast
Avoid fruit juice as much as possible, even apple juice, it will cause her to have diarrhea and could cause it to become worse.

thanks Andria~ also, can this also be a sign that she's teething? Days ago I noticed she was having runny nose, (though I just thought it was because of the cold weather), and had slight fever but it went away. I haven't tried peeking in her mouth to see if her 2nd molars are erupting already..

I dont think you need to stop BF. She could just have a virus. I have noticed when I nursed my girls, they would have slightly looser stool when they would nurse. Even if they ate solid food. I wouldnt worry to much. Just give her some pedialite. If it continues only when you nurse ask a doc about it. Good luck!
