My baby is 8 weeks old and sleeps 6 hours straight at night. Should I wake up to pump?

If you experience engorgement then it is best to pump as engorged breasts will not do your milk supply any good at all..and besides you will feel better with empty breasts both physically and psychologically knowing that your supply is not at a risk of falling.

That depends. Are you trying to build up a stash of breast milk for when you go back to work? Is your baby nursing every 2 -3 hours throughout the day (other than that one 6 hour stretch? Is your baby having 6 to 8 wet diapers each day, and growing?

If your baby is healthy, growing, having enough wet diapers, nursing frequently throughout the rest of the day/night, and you don't need to build a stash of frozen breast milk, then you don't need to wake up to pump. Enjoy the sleep! And don't be surprised if your baby's sleep patterns change in the next month or two.

I have decided to pump. I had mastitis once, i wouldn't want to get another infection. My breast do get engorged pretty fast if I do not empty them out. Thanks for the feedback.
