My baby is about 6 weeks old, and this past week she has not ate near as often as she used to. She used to eat at least every 2 hours and so my milk supply was perfect. But now she's going a long time between feedings and it has really decreased my supply! One of my breasts only expresses a few drops that cover the bottom of a bottle when I pump! It used to pump at least 1-2 oz. My other breast(the right one) pumps at least 2 oz or 3 oz still but i can tell a small decrease in that one also. I just don't know what to do. I am going to take fenugreek and see if it helps but I took them when she was first born and couldn't tell a difference/ I just don't want to have to stop breast feeding because of this. I'm taking her to the doctor tomorrow to make sure she's okay since she isn't eating much at all like she used to. I just really need help on what I should do so that I can continue breast feeding!!

Breast size has nothing to do with supply. Floppy breasts are working breasts. In fact, you DON'T want firm breasts. Firm, hard breasts actually slow down production because milk isn't being removed.

As long as baby is getting enough diapers, your baby is getting enough. Don't judge supply by size or feel of breasts, pump output, or behavior.

If your baby is getting those diapers, there's no problems here!

the same problem occurred with me. I talked to a family member who just finished exclusively breast pumpin her almost one year old. I would get a total of 2 ounces from both sides combined. but I pumped every 2 hours all the day even at night for a few days and my milk supply jumped up to 6 ounces at the most. you have to pump every 2 hours to keep your supply. because if you stop doing that your telling your body that you don't need it anymore and it slows down. my daughter was the same way. she'd eat every 3-4 hours sometimes 5 so I had milk stored and bottles ready for her when she's wake up.

Thank you Celeste! But my left breast is a lot smaller from my right and it's way softer while my right breast is hard and firm feeling! I used to pump 1 oz at least out of my left and now it's almost nothing. And I'm wondering why my baby is eating less and going longer between feedings

Don't judge supply on pump output. Decreasing pump output is actually pretty normal and usually it just means your supply is regulating which is a GOOD thing. How are diapers? If your baby is getting 6-8 diapers, no matter content, your supply is fine!
