I am exhausted but want to provide my 8 month old with the milk he needs to keep growing. He wakes a lot at night acting hungry. I have tried solids right before bed and he still seems hungry. he is growing fast but the pediatrician had no concerns about his weight or anything. He is in 98 percentile for length and height so he is just a big boy. I just was wondering if it is good to keep feeding him at night or am I just training him to always need to nurse at night? How do I provide him with the food he needs abs get sleep ha ha? we are also in the potty training at night phase with our daughter. She will wake a couple times a night to go to the bathroom. Any advise is appreciated !

Every 2 hours seems like a lot but every baby is different. My son at that age got up twice a night. Still at 13 months gets up once in awhile. Didn't matter how much he ate he would still get up. If he got up before 1 I let him cry it out a little to see if he would fall asleep which sometimes he did and sometimes he didn't. if he didn't go back to sleep, I tried soothing him by rubbing his back or picking him up. If that didn't work, I would feed him. If up after 1, I would feed him. I thought it would start bad habits but then he did start sleeping through the night at 11 months but still got up still here and there. Even now I give him a bottle but limit him to 2 oz when he gets up in the middle of the night.

Good luck! One another thing if you are worried about milk supply, do you have extra breastmilk in the freezer? Around 11 months I noticed my milk supply going down. after I fed him at bedtime I gave another 2 oz of my frozen breastmilk supply which seemed to help. I had a can of sample formula and tried that but he wanted no part of it haha. I do wish my supply in the freezer was larger but he was so close to his first bday that I started cows milk to supplement at night when my extra frozen milk was gone. This might help later on too.

Thank you this is very helpful. There are some nights he will go four hours. More consistently it is every two. I am just not sure if my milk production is keeping up with him. I will try consoling him instead of feeding him one of the times he wakes and see how it goes! Thank you
