So my seven and a half month old eats solids like a pro. But his nursing im worried about him not nursing enough he only nurses couple a min on each side morning then after his A.M. nap then after lunch b4 his next nap then after he wakes up and then right b4 bed. Then almost all night. Which brings me to my next question: He wants to nurse all night and he is either awake alot at night and sometimes he is sort of awake but whining / crying. Is he nursing enough? (Drs. say he is a little under weight but like i said he eats like a pro) I tried keeping him from napping i tried keeping him up till 8 -9 i feed him b4 bed it none of it worked. help :( im drained

It sounds like you're doing really good with feeding him, both breastmilk and solids. It's really only nighttime you're having trouble with then right? Does he sleep nearby you? Co-sleep? Same room? Or crib in his own room? 8 or 9 months is usually when separation anxiety starts setting in. Maybe he's hitting that one early and waking up missing mommy? If he's not sleeping in your room is it an option for you?

That's the right age for baby to be to interested in what is going on around him rather than wanting to take the time to nurse. Then he will want to make up for all that missed nursing time at night. Try nursing in a semi dark quiet room during the day. Also, try nursing him before feeding solids. Let him fill up on your milk first then offer the solid foods for him to get extras.

Thanks :) yes its night times. He sleeps in his crib next to our bed in my room. I end up nursing him/ cuddling with him a bit at night. But hey that maybe true!!! I never thought of that he may be having a lil seperation anxiety! thanks Lori

When i feed him I BF before breakfast solids then i feed him solids. then BF b4 his morning nap he naps wakes up I BF him then feed him lunch then BF b4 afternoon nap then BF him b4 supper then BF him b4 bed time (sometimes in between depends on if he asks me. I also BF him when he asks so the above is the absolute then sometimes he BF in between) He has a healthy appetite when he eats solids and does well with the solids.

No i dont keep him up some one suggested it i tried it it only made it worse. He goes to bed anywhere between 630-730. He has 2 naps one in the morning bout 1/2 hr -hour. one afternoon nap which is bout an hour - hour half. At night he sleeps till 1030 i BF him but he isnt fully awake he goes back to sleep by 11pm. Then he wakes at 2 am this time more fully awake and he is up for hour-two hours I BF him eventually he goes back to sleep then he wakes for the morning at 630-7am.

I would say... stop keeping him up so late. He needs an early bedtime...every book on sleep will tell you that. 7 30 works for most kids, maybe that will prevent him from waking up a lot at night, he might be overtired. Still yhis adjustment will take up to a week, so don't get discouraged. How are his naps? are they 2 naps at least an hour or short? how many hours is he sleeping total? As for BF I would always offer breast before solids, he is too young to wean and he might do this because he is too interested in solids, that would not be good.
