Nursing strike or nipple confusion?

Hi all!

My little one is 8 months old, and I've always wanted to breastfeed. I got to nurse him exclusively during 6 months, then we tried to introduce solid food, it was total disaster. He won't have anything with a spoon...
Anyway, in the last month he stopped nursing during the day, he was just too curious of eerything and I couldn't get him to eat enough so I gave him the bottle (the fact that I got back to work didn't help) but I would still let him nurse in the morning, in the evening and at night.

But the past 3 days he just refused to nurse! He seems happy when I offer him, but he just puts the nipple in his mouth and then pushes me away, nothing will help.
I was wondering if it was just a nursing strike of if it could be a nipple confusion, eventhough he's had bottles since he was 5 months old (with my milk).
I did start working nightshifts about a month ago, so his dad had to bottle feed him, maybe that's the problem?

I'm lost here, I don't know what to do, most people say I should just wean, but firstable I'm not ready for that, and secondable I'm not sure that's what he wants anyway...

Don't wean. Sounds like a nursing strike to me. Hang on in there and pump, if you can. My kid went through this around that age, and it turned out to be because of teething. He may be self weaning, but if he is, you will know because it persists. Good luck.

Thanks Celeste! I followed the link and it was really helpful. I tried breastfeeding last night before he woke up and if sort of worked until he woke up completely and found out what he was doing! Anyway I'll try again tonight and hopefully he'll stay on a little longer.
