I am on day 6 with breastfeeding my newborn and milk is now starting to come in greater supply. I just started feeling pins and needles just before I fed and now more so afterwards. Any thoughts? I'm hoping its just my body getting used to more milk production and not thrush or something. Finally last night we had 3 great feedings after days of frustration and really sore nipples due to bad latching. Thanks Mommies.

Normal. I stopped feeling it at the 6 month mark. Hang in there with the sore nipples it gets better at about the 4 month mark.

And when I say I almost died, I meant figuratively...lol...I just re-read my post and realized it sounded strange...

Both feelings are totally normal. I always knew it was almost time for him to eat when I felt like my breasts were burning on the inside. That's how I explained it best but it's probably the same feeling. Also, sore nipples happened to me more with my first. Lanolin worked to ease the pain bc my nipples were also cracking pretty badly. My son actually vomited blood when he was a few days old and I almost died! I just would take my breast away if he latched incorrectly and he eventually caught on. It will definitely get easier with time. Good luck.

I think that's pretty typical of letdown. I never got that feeling but I've heard from many mamas describe the letdown as pins and needles. Hang in there!
