I have been diagnosed with a hyperactive thyroid. I have lost an unreasonable amount of weight, I am moody, anxious, weak, shaky and tired. My Dr has said that the only medication I can take is not okay while breastfeeding. I was wondering if anyone has any exprience with this? If so wht treatment did you get? Are there natural treatments okay for breastfeeding? We are currently monitoring my levels.

I had the same thing happen to me after my oldest daughter was born she is now 11 and I started taking synthroid back then and have continued since thru 2 more pregnancys with no ill effects to any of the kids. just make sure you take youur meds the baby needs a happy healthy mum to take care of them. In time you will start to feel better. All my babies were breast fed by the way i still am with my 15mth old Good luck

synothyroid is perfectly safe while nursing as its' something your body should make naturally.... i've gone from hypo to hyper back to hypo and will be retested in a couple months. if your doctor is telling you that taking a natural body producing hormone isnt' safe you need a new doctor ASAP
