Ready to wean... How do I start?...

My daughter will be 1 today and I would like to wean her before she starts biting, how is the best way to do that?

I also stopped breast feeding when my son turned one. My sister-in-law waited another 3 months and had a tough time. I started replacing one feeding a day with formula/cows milk (whichever you prefer). Once my body was used to not producing milk for a feeding during that time each day (usually after 4-5 days), I'd drop another feeding. In this way, my baby and my body both gradually got used to the change. I left the morning and evening feeds until the very end. By that time, my milk production in general had dropped quite a bit and my son was actually preferring the bottle because he got more milk from it! I have to be honest, I felt a bit rejected, but I was proud of us both for making a fairly easy transition. The whole gradual process took less than a month. Good luck!

She may never bite if she's already 1 and hasn't bitten you. If she does, it's an easy fix. Put her down and tell her no. It'll take a few times, but it'll be a lot easier than weaning!

However, if you're just ready to wean, drop one feeding per week.
