my dd is 10weeks old and exclusively breastfed. i have been trying to give her a pacifier since she was four weeks old but she just wont take it.. ive tried silicone and latex and many different brands but she just won't suck! ive also started introducing a bottle of expressed milk when she was six weeks old but she doenst take that either. any thoughts on how to get her to take an artificial nipple? she needs to suck to fall asleep. i often nurse her to sleep but sometimes she seems almost annoyed that milk is coming out because she just wanted to suck, so i think a pacifier would really help.

Do you NEED her to take a bottle? Are you going back to work? My youngest also refused a bottle or pacifier. I tried multiple things and multiple times and at different ages. But ultimately I only wanted her to take a bottle so I could leave her with a sitter on occasion. I didn't need her to take one so I could go to work. I finally gave up trying and only left her very short periods after nursing her.
Ultimately - If you can, it's good for your baby to exclusively nurse. She doesn't NEED to be able to take a bottle or a pacifier. Both of those are just artificial replacements for the real thing.
