Sleep training

My son is five months old I have been nursing him to sleep and co sleeping however it is
To the point now that he wakes up the moment I lay him down and wants to comfort nurse all night. I would like to start teaching him to fall asleep on his own and eventually sleep in his crib. I love having him close but I'm not getting any sleep or time to do things around the house that need to get done. Any suggestions I'm not sure if I should take it slow or all at once.

I was the same with my oldest son (now 2 years) and at 5-6 months I done controlled crying and it totally worked for him. From then on and now still he sleeps from 7pm until at least 7am. Put your son down in his cot even if he starts crying leave the room 5 mins and if still crying go in comfort him and when he has stopped cryingput him back down for 10 mins, leave for 10 mins then return, comfort put back down for 15 , return and settle him then leave for 20 ..... I have never had to leave him for more than 15 mins they eventually give in! Then if he weakens through the night do the same... 5 mins.. 10 mins and so on. Give yourself 3 nights and by the end of it I would assume your son (therefore you) will be getting the sleep you need. Understood this is not for all mums but it works! I have a monitor where I can see my son which gives me comfort and stopped me peeking in on him then him seeing me then getting in hysterics
